In order to find a safe home for the photographs, the collection was transferred to the Library of Congress, after seeking approval from President Roosevelt. This project helped emerge documentary photography and made Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans famous. Although the FSA photographs were being filed for future use, there was a danger that critics of the agency would have them destroyed. This project was created in order to portray the lives of the poor people such as farmers. The FSA is best known for the influence of their photography project. This resulted in the act eventually failing because the farmers no longer wanted to rent from the government but rather buy their own land. The flaw to this strategy was that it left farmers without enough payment to make rent. Roosevelt’s goal with the agricultural policy was to decrease the production and increase the prices of farm products. The Farm Security Act was passed in 1937 by congress and lasted until 1942.
